San Francisco is located on the narrow hilly peninsula separating an internal bay-gulf of San Francisco from open ocean. The passage Golden Gate conducting in a bay, limits the city territory from the north. Presence of a convenient sea bay has transformed San Francisco into the main port named «a gate to Pacific ocean» and important naval base of the USA at Pacific coast. Average temperature of summer + 15+24°C, average temperature of winter - 10-15°C. A fog brought by ocean, - the frequent visitor and a city distinctive feature.
Officially the city of San Francisco is called just since 1847. Before this settlement carried the Spanish name of Herba Buena. In 1776 the Spanish missionary Juan Batista yes Anza bases Mission of Sacred Frantsiska Aziasky. Later 45 years Herba Buana already are a part of Mexico which has declared the independence of Spain. But in 1848 of the USA, because of debts, declares war to Mexico. Mexico loses war and is compelled to pay off for debts with loss of Arizona, New Mexico, Texas, California and San Francisco. But, the city is still very small by then, its population 1 thousand person hardly makes. He is obliged by the growth to "Gold-rush". Having arisen at southwest coast of a bay of San Francisco, the city promptly won all new territories from nearby hills. Trying not to lag behind in what New York, fathers of a city of San Francisco too laid streets harmonous, as on a chessboard, numbers. It was enough difficult architectural problem if to consider that San Francisco was stretched among numerous hills.

Es una festividad de origen muy antiguo que suele ir ligada a encender hogueras o fuegos, ligada con las celebraciones en la que se festejaba la llegada del solsticio de verano en el hemisferio norte, cuyo rito principal consiste en encender una hoguera. El 24, se celebra el nacimiento de San Juan, quien preparó a la humanidad para la llegada de Jesús. Su nacimiento ocurrió en unafecha muy cercana a un solsticio (de invierno para el hemisferio sur, y de verano para el hemisferio norte), lo que quiere decir que lo que está en juego son poderosas energías solares actuando en la Tierra. Pasar por encima de las hogueras que se encienden esta noche o meterse en el mar y saltar olas, son sólo algunas de esas leyendas que permiten, según se dice, que se cumplan algunos de los deseos que pedimos durante esta noche tan llena de magia.
